Custom Power Design

Highly specialized, compact, efficient power converters are our specialty. Whether you need power for a high reliability mission critical system or the next wearable gadget, we can come up with a solution that meets your need. We are experienced with traditional and cutting edge power devices alike. Depending on the power level, requirements and cost goals of the product, we will select the best fit device, whether it is IGBT, MOSFET, Silicon Carbide (SiC), or Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology.

We can also deliver high end custom magnetics magnetics that fit any form factor. The best fit for your application may be a planar transformer embedded in your circuit board or a large wire wound E-core. We are also skilled at developing custom core geometries to meet the need for very high power density. Advanced techniques may be used, such as integrated magnetics, where the inductive and transformer elements are combined in the same core to make the converter as small and efficient as possible. All solutions will be supported with standard calculations and FEA analysis as necessary. We will also walk you through the process of specifying, tooling and onboarding manufactures to build your product.

EMI Design

Whether you have made it through development and just found that you have an EMI/EMC compliance problem or want the best EMI solution up-front to prevent issues later in the development, we can help with troubleshooting and developing an EMI compliance solution that meets your requirements. We have significant hands on experience with in-the-lab troubleshooting of difficult to solve EMI issues. If you are just beginning development, we can analyze your design and determine the best solution to achieve compliance.

Analog Design

Sometimes analog is the best solution. We are experienced with active and passive filter design as well as analog control networks. Even digital systems need signal conditioning filters. Analog control networks are often times more robust and higher performing than digital control. They are also a good option when software development is not desired or not an option. Analog control is more robust to harsh environments, particularly when there is exposure to ionizing radiation. If your control just has to work regardless of the environment, then analog may be the best fit.

Real Time Processing

We also offer control solutions for power control using digital signal processing (DSP). Digital control is highly adaptable, and is the best option when implementing non-linear control techniques or mixed-mode control methods. It can also seamlessly handle operational mode changes, which can be difficult or impractical to achieve in analog control alone.

System Protection
